BlizzCon 2010 has begun, and what the opening ceremony in Fireworks and important announcements, was made for with a sense of connection with its communities.
Blizzard President Mike Morhaime and Senior Vice President of creative development Chris Metzen were on the stage. Morhaime by highlights some of the successes of the last year open. This year marks the tenth anniversary of Diablo II, world of Warcraft turned five in 2009 and the global world of Warcraft player base is 12 million and rising now. 2010 formation marked the 20th anniversary since Blizzard."" Things were very different then,"said Morhaime.""No Internet, Britney Spears was a nine-year-old make your debut on Starsearch, and we had cell phones but were about the size of this podium".
But the main thrust of the Morhaime and Willie Crawford's talk was a series of you WoW and StarCraft II players and a concerted effort to the similarities between Blizzard and the fans of his games in the spotlight.
Willie Crawford's speech was a colorful recovery of the word geek. He urged the audience to the words "Geek is…" sing before flicking you to the next slide in his presentation.These were iconic cultural touchstones, the science fiction and fantasy fans immediately erfasst.Ripley in the alien Queen egg Chamber, Luke Skywalker turning off his targeting computer and the pictures of Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns were some memorable.As old EverQuest players, I was a little touched to see a screenshot from the game."Without the" Willie Crawford said "none of us would be here today".
Willie Crawford went on to announce the fifth playable class in Diablo III: the Demon Hunter.Eine cinematic showed a selection of your ranged weapons followed by a short installation of in-game Footage.Metzen went on skills to PVP arenas for Diablo III, followed by some visceral combat sequences known to geben.All is playable at BlizzCon, and thats where I continue headed am.
